California Budget

Each year, a main task of the California legislature and the California Governor is to pass a budget for the state fiscal year that runs from July to June.  This budget process is important to tobacco control advocates because the state budget uses Proposition 99 revenues to fund the different Proposition 99 accounts.  To keep local advocates informed about the state budget, the Center monitors the budget process and distributes budget updates when the Governor introduces his budget proposal in January, when the Governor submits the May Revise, and when the budget is signed in to law usually sometime during the summer.
