PACT Resolution
The PACT Resolution provides California State Assembly Members and State Senators with the opportunity to demonstrate their support for reducing the burden that tobacco places on California. The PACT Resolution supports the five objectives of California’s Master Plan for Tobacco Control, written by the legislatively mandated Tobacco Education Research Oversight Committee (TEROC).
These objectives are:
- (1) Strengthen the California Tobacco Control Program;
- (2) Eliminate disparities and achieve parity in all aspects of tobacco control;
- (3) Decrease secondhand smoke exposure;
- (4) Increase the availability and utilization of cessation services; and
- (5) Limit and regulate tobacco industry products, activities, and influence.
Signing the Resolution shows a commitment to working towards solutions to improve the health of Californians by supporting a decrease in exposure to secondhand smoke, providing more resources to help people quit smoking, and reducing the impact of the tobacco industry. Signing this Resolution also demonstrates support for the work that is being done around the state by tobacco control advocates who comprise the PACT Coalition and are working towards these same goals.
