I&E Days
Please note, registration is now closed.
You are cordially invited to attend the 2010 Capitol Information and Education (I&E) Days on May 11 & 12 in Sacramento. I&E Days are an exciting opportunity for you to provide critical information to legislators about the success and challenges of tobacco control programs locally and statewide.
Representatives from Prop. 99-funded programs (Local Lead Agencies, statewide projects, competitive grantees and local tobacco control coalitions) are invited to participate. Registration is now closed; there is no registration fee for participating.
We will again organize under the banner of the Coalition to Protect All Californians from Tobacco (PACT). The PACT Coalition is a group of individuals from tobacco prevention organizations and public health agencies committed to reducing the impact of tobacco on Californians. The mission of the PACT Coalition is to educate local and state elected officials about the social, health and economic impact of tobacco and tobacco-related disease in California and to serve as a resource on local and statewide tobacco prevention issues.
This year’s event features a shorter agenda (one day, plus an evening meet & greet) to help with budget concerns, but will include several new training webinars to help prepare you for the visits. The event will begin with optional caucus meetings starting at 4:00 pm (please plan to arrive and meet with your teams in Sacramento no later than 3:30 pm) and the event will officially kick off at 6:30 pm on May 11 with an evening Meet & Greet to give you the chance to interact with legislators, staff and other advocates. On May 12, we will convene in a tent on the capitol grounds for educational visits with your legislators.
These visits are a great opportunity to increase visibility in the legislature for our work and an important step for you to build and/or maintain relationships with your elected state officials.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Erin Archer at the Center for Tobacco Policy and Organizing at 916.554.5864 x223 or earcher [at] alac.org.
