Vanessa Marvin is the Director for the Center for Tobacco Policy & Organizing. Vanessa has been with the Center for over nine years. She has provided technical assistance and training to local CDPH/CTCP-funded projects and coalitions throughout California on the development of their policy campaigns and organizing strategies. Over the past nine years Vanessa has provided countless trainings to local coalitions and regional groups around the state on topics such as the Midwest Academy Strategy Chart, recruitment, working with elected officials, and coalition facilitation. She has also been a sought after speaker on state technical assistance calls and in conference workshops. Vanessa has led coordination of Local Legislative District Day and New Legislator Orientation each year.

Prior to joining the Center, Vanessa worked as a community organizer on campaigns around the country focused on a range of issues including climate change, polluting power plants in Connecticut, children's health, and the protection of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. She is a graduate of the year-long environmental advocacy training program Green Corps and received a B.S. degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Yale University. Vanessa was trained in using the Strategy Chart at a Midwest Academy training in 2010.
