District Days

Local Legislative District Days: October 17-21, 2011

Instead of hosting several regional calls, we will be contacting you directly and helping you coordinate your teams and we will be hosting one Newcomers Webinar to give your more information on District Days and how to register.

Newcomers Webinar: Tuesday, August 30th, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

What is District Days? The goal of Local Legislative District Days is for tobacco control advocates across the state to meet with their legislators and educate them about of the all the work you are doing in their (and your) community. You’ll be part of a coordinated wave of information and education about life-saving tobacco control efforts around the state. This is also an opportunity to involve coalition members or key community leaders who were not able to come to Sacramento for a Capitol legislative visit in the spring. Click here for more information about coordinating your legislative visits.

How does District Days work? You and your coalition handle the local coordination and scheduling. The Center will provide you with information on scheduling and holding district meetings (including template materials and strategic advice). Click here for resources for scheduling and conducting a district office visit. In addition, there will be a technical assistance call to prepare you and your coalition members to make the most of this opportunity. These visits are an important step for you in building a strong, ongoing relationship with your elected state officials.

For more information, please call The Center at (916) 554-5864 or email at ereynoso [at] alac.org.

Just as a reminder, TCP policy does not allow its contractors to utilize Prop 99 funds for lobbying purposes. These visits are purely educational.
